INTRODUCTION

Ever since I started writing royal romances, I wanted to set one of the stories in India. Now I’ve made this dream come true. “The Indian Prince’s Scandalous Bride” is the 4th book in the Romancing the Royals series, and I can’t wait to share it with you all. Here’s the cover and blurb. The book is due for release next month.

royal romance - book 4

BLURB

Wedding planner Ashley Davies has left England behind to organize a royal wedding in India. She’s expected a cultural shock and lots of unforgettable memories – but never in a million years would she have thought she’d fall in love. When the mysterious and irresistible Vivaan turns out to be none other than an Indian prince, it’s time for her to make a decision: risk everything for the sake of what feels like so much more than a holiday fling, or resist their forbidden attraction and save her job as well as her heart?

Prince Vivaan of Yogeshpur certainly doesn’t want to get involved in the organization of his brother’s grand wedding, but then a free-spirited and smart redhead from England captures his interest. Suddenly he finds himself eager to get to know a woman who would never receive his mother’s royal seal of approval. Should he give in to his feelings or stay away from the ‘scandalous’ wedding planner?

CrazyCatLadyNovellaTitle: Crazy Cat Lady Finds Love

Author :  Sudesna Ghosh

Genre: Romance/Romantic Comedy

Length: 62 pages (novella)

Blurb:

She’s a member of the Crazy Cat Ladies Club.
Her life is all about cats and the cat ladies.
Until the purrfect cat man comes along…

Excerpt:

Would Navin think I was pretty? Would he hold my hand? Maybe he would kiss me if we got some privacy?

“Too many questions, Sue,” I told myself, as the cab rolled on.

Navin sent me a text saying he would be at the café in 15 minutes. He added another text saying he couldn’t wait to meet me finally. Aww. Genuine excitement or was he being polite? I wasn’t the insecure kind but this online dating thing just filled relationships with so much mystery. Never tried it in my 20s.

The Crazy Cat Ladies Club group had three messages; one from each of the ladies, telling me to relax and give them details after he left. I wrote back asking Sunita to let us know about Vivek’s visit that night too. She replied: I will. Sigh.

Turning off my mobile data, I felt my stomach churn as we pulled up at my destination. There stood my date, dressed immaculately in a polo neck tee and dark jeans, feeding a street dog biscuits. The dog wagged his tail and Navin’s eyes said it all – he had the same look in them that I’d seen in my friends’ eyes when we were with animals. Love. It was pure, beautiful love.

What Amazon readers are saying:

“The author has a wry observational voice that makes me chuckle every time I read her. The cats are cute too and the dude is extra cute! Five full stars.”

“Along with men trouble, dating issues, canine problems, and Cat man, Navin, this book makes the perfect satisfying read for pet lovers and others, alike. if you haven’t considered keeping a pet, you may be tempted to after reading this. very refreshing and a fun great read!”

A FEEL-GOOD ROMANTIC COMEDY

Small town girl Sanjana Kale wants a fresh start in Mumbai. A challenging job and some much needed distance from her ludicrously over-protective family could get her life under control.

Forced to team up with video game designer Ashwin Deo, who is too attractive for his own good, she finds life becoming a whole lot more complicated when he turns out to be her new neighbour.  How can she maintain a professional distance with this charming troublemaker who believes in getting up close and personal?

To make matters worse, her ex tries to manipulate her loved ones to work his way back into her life. Hysterical siblings, a cantankerous client, an ex who will not take no for an answer, and a blow hot blow cold neighbour… Sanjana is sleepless in the City of Dreams! Can she do what Ashwin dares her to–create a few ripples even if it upsets her family?

Excerpt:

The promenade in front of the beach was chock-a-block with morning walkers, joggers and yoga enthusiasts. The Laughing Club members were at it—raising their arms to heaven and laughing their guts out.

Ashwin Deo gazed lazily at the sight around him. If it weren’t for Dumbass, he would be sleeping off his dreadful hangover.  The dratted critter gave two sharp yelps. Good God! He had been saddled with a mind reading dog? The Lhasa Apso was peering at him with brown soulful eyes that would melt the hardest of hearts.

“Okay. I got you here, right? Do me a favour and do what you need to.”

The dog gave a massive tug on his leash and Ashwin lurched forward, nearly crashing into a woman in canary yellow yoga pants and matching T-shirt. His eyes hurt at the bright colours and he mumbled an apology before being dragged ahead by the dog.

“Dumbass!” he yelled firmly. And the dog came to a halt.

“That’s more like it.” He lowered himself on his haunches and peered into the mutt’s eyes. “Let’s get this straight. We keep it civilized. You walk calmly, do your thing and we go back home. Got it?”

The dog’s tongue lolled out from the side of his mouth as he gave Ashwin a beseeching look following it up with a quick lick on his bare knee.

“Right. So, slow and easy. No pulling, okay?”

Another swift lick.

“Thanks, bro. I think we got a deal. Let’s go.”

Ashwin raised his towering six foot frame and taking deep breaths kept moving along, his eyes narrowing painfully as the hangover continued to hammer away at his head.

Barely had they walked a few paces when Dumbass broke into a series of high-pitched yelps and tugged. Before Ashwin had figured out what was going on, Dumbass gave a mighty yank. The strap tore out of his hand and the dog was hurtling down the promenade at top speed.

“Goddammit! Stop, Dumbass!”

Walkers turned around to give Ashwin funny looks as he took off after the dog.

Every stride sent pain shooting up into his head which threatened to split wide open. The cacophony of screeching tyres, frightened squeals of onlookers and a dashing ball of fur brought him to a standstill.

He bounded on to the street and came to a halt at the sight of Dumbass lying prone in the middle of the road, his lead tangled under the car tyre.

Oh no!

He heard the car door open and someone step out, yelling loudly, “Why in God’s name can’t you control your dog?”

As Ashwin inched forward to pick up the dog, he heard a woman’s lilting voice, “That was close. The leash got tangled under the tyre but he doesn’t seem to be hurt.”

Ashwin let out the breath he was holding and reached out to pick up Dumbass. The mutt was winded but breathing. There was no blood and as soon as he touched him, Dumbass leaped into his arms and did his lickety-spit number.

“You gave me the fright of my life,” he muttered as he got up and turned around.

The driver was only too glad that the creature was alive and kicking. Getting into the car, he ranted about irresponsible dog owners and drove off.

The woman whose voice he had heard said, “Poor thing must have gotten such a fright!”

That’s when he noticed her. She looked like a college student with her long waist-length hair tied casually with a silk scarf. Her big, dark eyes shone with compassion as she leaned slightly towards him to pet Dumbass and a fruity perfume assailed him. Her thick eyelashes swept up and she turned her gaze on him.

“Never been so scared.” He gave her his best hangdog look.

“I was talking about him!”

“Dumbass.”

“Excuse me? Did you just call me, Dumbass?” Her eyes sparkled with annoyance and he came back to his senses with a start.

“No…his name.”

He cursed his blasted headache which made talking such a goddamn effort. She looked at him as if he had some kind of mental disability.

He smiled with effort.  “Perfect name for a dog with no sense of self preservation, right?”

She glared back at him. “What about the owner who thinks he has no responsibility for his dog’s welfare?”

He took a few deep breaths. “I can explain.”

“Never mind. Just make sure you take him to a vet. There might be some internal injury.”

She gave Dumbass a last pat, bestowed a dirty glare on him and jogged away.

“Writing and Marketing are two different things. As a writer, you must have worked hard…and you know how lonely the job of writing is…”

–  Mariyam Hasnain

Today we have on our guest blog post, romance author Mariyam Hasnain who is also the

mariyam1

winner of the 2017 Times of India Write India Contest. Her short story “Portal Love” was one in the Top 50 short story entries of Write India Season 2. Mariyam loves writing dark and sassy romantic stories. She’s novelist, a short story writer, and a blogger. Her latest release The wedding planner is the talk of the town.

Today she will be sharing her best selling techniques with us. So

Marketing Hacks for Authors – Simple Tips to Market Your First Book

Okay, so you’ve written a book. Now what? Promotion and Marketing…? Phew!

A mere thought of marketing is strong enough to crush all your thinking process. (Think of writing another book with that…)

Writing and Marketing are two different things. As a writer, you must have worked hard…and you know how lonely the job of writing is…

But you love it and it’s your love for writing you prefer spending time with your computer than being in any other recreational activity.

But the hard truth is once you’re ready with your finished book, you need to reach your readers.

You may have written the best book. Got a professional cover, Hired an editor… Is that enough for getting sales or reads. What’s missing?

The answer is simple. Your book is just another needle in the haystack, It’s just another book among millions of other books. Who will read it? Where are your readers? Where do they hang out? How to reach them?

How about creating a buzz about your book that your readers automatically get drawn towards it?

Yes, you got to create a buzz about your book.

Quickly here are some ways to create a pre-launch buzz about your book:

  1. Cover Choice/Reveal: Ask whats better…Reveal the cover of the book before it’s launch. You can do this on your social media pages as well as in Facebook groups and on Goodreads.
  2. Exclusive Excerpt Reveal: Release the blurb and a short excerpt of the book a week or two before its release. Share it on your social pages, Facebook groups, and Goodreads.
  3. Offer FREE first sample chapter: This could be used as a lead magnet also. Get an opt-in landing page done where people can fill up the form. In return, they will get a free chapter of your book even before its release. You can intimate them as soon as the book is LIVE. And believe me, they will be first ones to go and download your book.

I got many signups when I started offering the FREE first sample chapter of The Wedding Planner weeks’ before its release.(On my blog)

So there you go with the pre-launch buzz. Now, once the book is launched, you got to create some after-launch buzz to attract more and more readers.

  1. Reviews: Get as many reviews as possible. The more reviews you have, the more chances of your book getting noticed by Amazon as well by the readers. Never ever try to get paid reviews or use paid platforms for getting reviews. Amazon is very strict in its review policy. The moment they notice something dubious is going on, they will delete all your reviews. So keep it clean 😊
  2. Giveaways: As much as people love ebooks, there’s nothing that can beat the feel of a paperback. To draw more and more readers, set up a paperback giveaway for your book.

Setting Up a Giveaway: You can offer both Kindle and Paperback books. But with the arrival of Kindle Unlimited in India, Kindle ebooks are not much desired by the readers. So it’s the paperback that can help you build a genuine list of followers.

Paperback giveaways are also the best approach to attracting new readers to your book, gaining followers on social media and developing a fan base.

If your book is self-published, you can go for POD (Print on demand) services to have a paperback version of your book. With POD you can even get a single copy printed.

Bookwins.com is a site that helps authors set up their giveaways, totally FREE. For now, the site is offering only paperback giveaways but soon the Kindle books can also be considered for setting up the giveaways.

The site gives readers a great shopping experience. Where your books are sold for FREE. (Or as per pricing strategy)

The reader has to add the Free books to their carts and check out. And at the end of the giveaway (say if the giveaway is listed for a month), you can choose the winners through a lucky draw.

You will see how many people have entered, who are they, and where you have to ship them their free copies.

You only got to decide how many copies of print books you’re giving away.

Once done, you can advertise your giveaway on your social pages and various other facebook groups. Besides this, Bookwins.com does offer author promotion services – Including landing pages, list building, Blog development and how to write a great copy for your book ad.

So, if you feel a little inclined to know more about Bookwins.com and its giveaways, click the link below and share your experience with your pals.

These are all organic ways of buzz creation. There are many paid ways as well. For instance, you can go for blog tours, Facebook ad campaigns and submit your book to paid book promotion sites like Bookbub.

Whatever you decide, but keep in mind that the success of any book depends on a balanced mix of organic and paid reach to the readers.

That’s it for now.

What does marriage mean for an Indian girl? Whether she marries for love or by arrangement, she’s forced to obey unreasonable demands. But she also wants to live her life on her own terms.

It would be great if you can add this book to your TBR

About Ruchi Vasudeva in her own words:

I’m a doctor by profession, a teacher by vocation and an author by destiny. The writing bug has long resided in me and a contest held by Harlequin for Indian authors gave me a golden opportunity to have my dream realized. I debuted in August ’13 with my book ‘Bollywood Fiancé For A Day’. I write romantic fiction with conflicted characters who come into their own in their quest of reaching out for love. I love to write about spirited heroines getting hurtled out of their daily life as soon as they cross paths with their rather challenging heroes.

I keep busy juggling writing with my medical job and family life with my doctor husband and two wiser-than-thou teens. When not bent double over the laptop, I might be found with my nose in books or munching nachos at the movies or glued to the telecast of Team India or Chennai Super Kings in action. Sometimes I drag myself for walks and surprisingly discover they are rather good for brewing story ideas!

SIMHA INTERNATIONAL
(The Bansal Legacy #1)
by
Sundari Venkatraman

Blurb

Rohit Bansal, the handsome and suave managing director of Simha International, is the envy of many—from a director of the hotel to an employee.

A thief comes up with a simple modus operandi, believing that nobody’s really going to find out anything about the thefts taking place. But when a guest brings it to his notice, Rohit is determined to save the reputation of Simha International and ropes in a top-notch detective. Will Rohit be able to find who the thief is before time runs out?

The lovely and intelligent Tasha Sawant goes to work at Simha International as the duty manager. Her experience in the hotel industry only adds to the hotel’s excellent service.

Tasha is attracted to Rohit and it would seem that he reciprocates her feelings. Well, the lady isn’t looking for a permanent relationship as it looks likes she’s already had an unpleasant experience. But then, what about the guy? Does Rohit want any kind of relationship with Tasha?

*Simha International is the first book in the trilogy called The Bansal Legacy.

Read an excerpt:
Tasha caught the movement in her peripheral as Rohit walked into the atrium along with Vignesh. She straightened from the desk in front of her to pay better attention. He was like her very own Prince Charming in modern apparel, minus the white charger.

Rohit walked across the reception as if he owned the place, a devil-may-care expression on his gorgeous features. Tasha felt something akin to a jolt of lightning strike her heart while she felt a buzzing reverberation like thunder, which muted all the other sounds in the hall. She just stared as Rohit moved towards her, her sherry brown eyes wide and her mouth open in a startled moue.

A trifle irritated when a phone buzzed, Tasha sounded breathless as she answered the call. A small frown knitted her smooth forehead and Akhil was startled to see her drumming her fingers in annoyance on her desk.

Tasha turned her head towards the two men who were deep in conversation as she placed the receiver back on its rest. Her heart beat a wild tattoo when she saw them walking in her direction. Her slender form thrummed in anticipation as she stepped out of the bay when Vignesh beckoned to her. Akhil could feel the tremors as she walked past him and a scowl puckered his forehead as he looked up to see what had caused the excitement. On seeing Rohit, he wiped his frown in a hurry and gave the other man a sheepish smile of greeting that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

Akhil hated his boss, passionately. Akhil was from a middle class family and had had to struggle throughout his twenty-four years to reach where he was, a management trainee on his way to becoming a duty officer in another nine months’ time subject to—a look of bitterness marred his good looks—the approval of the board of directors, especially Rohit Bansal. Whenever he looked at his young boss of thirty-three, Akhil felt the fire of jealousy consuming him. Rohit Bansal was so lucky—Akhil was absolutely sure of it—to have everything handed to him on a platter, a child born with a silver spoon, into a hotelier family. Rohit’s single-handed struggle and hard work to set up the 5-star hotel against so many odds didn’t enter Akhil’s mind. His patience and perseverance had no place in the employee’s thoughts. His narrow mind could only perceive Rohit, as he was today, a billionaire who held 22% of the total shares of Simha International.

Adding insult to injury was Tasha’s reaction to him. She had been gently firm in her refusal to date Akhil. The bitch! His lips drooped downward. Big money went a long way to pave one’s path, it seemed.

Tasha went to stand beside the FOM, waiting for him to do the introductions.

“Rohit,” said Vignesh, “Meet Tasha Sawant, the latest addition to the Simha family,” he smiled before he turned towards Tasha, “And Tasha, meet Rohit Bansal, our managing director.” He didn’t notice the shocked look on Tasha’s face as she stared at Rohit.

Sherry brown eyes clashed with obsidian black ones and sparks flew! Her small hand was engulfed in what could be termed only as a huge ‘paw’. Tasha forgot to breathe as she felt herself being sucked into the black depths of his eyes from where she never wanted to escape.

The flash of his smile drew her attention to his sculpted lips—the thin upper one and a luscious lower one—and the incredible set of white teeth was a dentist’s dream. She drew a deep breath before whispering, “Hello.” She couldn’t help but notice the deep cleft in his square chin. Sexy!

Rohit read her lips rather than heard her greeting and met the lovely doe-like eyes with his obsidian gaze. He closed one eyelid in a wink and grinned at her, hoping to ease the situation that was fraught with sensuality.

Unaware of the undercurrents, Vignesh Kumar excused himself to go about his work.

Rohit smiled at Tasha. “Welcome to Simha International, Tasha.” His black eyes studied her boldly, from the top of her head to the tips of her toes peeping from her low-heeled shoes. She was tall and slender and oh so perfect! He had a tough time keeping his right hand from moving to her velvety cheek. The dusky gold of her skin seemed to invite his caress. He wanted to gather her in his arms and kiss her sensational lips into oblivion. He saw her breasts move agitatedly as she took deep breaths to calm herself.

Pink flooded Tasha’s face that appeared gorgeous to the fascinated man. “I don’t bite,” he declared, his expression devilishly mischievous. His black eyes danced and sparkled, lighting up the area.

Sundari Venkatraman is an indie author who has 16 titles to her name, all Top 100 Bestsellers on Amazon India, Amazon USA, Amazon UK, Amazon Canada and Amazon Australia in both romance as well as Asian Drama categories. Her latest hot romances have all been on #1Bestseller slot in Amazon India for over a month.

Even as a kid, Sundari absolutely loved the ‘lived happily ever after’ syndrome as she grew up reading all the fairy tales she could lay her hands on, Phantom comics, Mandrake comics and the like. It was always about good triumphing over evil and a happy end.

Soon, into her teens, Sundari switched her attention from fairy tales to Mills & Boon. While she loved reading both of these, she kept visualising what would have happened if there were similar situations happening in India; to a local hero and heroine. Her imagination took flight and she always lived in a rosy cocoon of romance over the years.

Then came the writing – a true bolt out of the blue! And Sundari Venkatraman has never looked back.
